Humph Remembered

Following the sad death of Humphrey Lyttelton last month, the Lichfield Cathedral event on Friday 11 July will now take the form of a concert to celebrate the life of the great trumpeter and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue chairman. It will feature the current Humphrey Lyttelton Band playing Humph favourites and originals and will include special guests Wally Fawkes and Brian PerkinsMore information

Selling fast - avoid disappointment

The Lichfield Festival box office has been busier than ever in the last three weeks, and tickets are selling so fast for some of the events that the house full signs will soon be going up.

Fans of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and the Puppini Sisters will need to move quickly to avoid disappointment. And other events which are nearing capacity include the opening concert by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the final cathedral concert by the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Hairy Bikers, and tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Paul Lewis performing Schubert’s Winterreise.

Festival director Richard Hawley said: “The Ukulele Orchestra’s appearance at the 2006 festival set the record as our fastest-selling concert ever, so it is no surprise that they are proving just as popular this year.“We are delighted that the public shares our enthusiasm for the great performers we have coming to this year’s Lichfield Festival.”
