Imagethird lichfield literature weekend
(26-28 september)

The literature weekend at the George Hotel will include a series of author talks on Saturday and Sunday, a literary dinner on Friday evening, and this year there will also be education work attached to the weekend. More information here soon.

This year's Lichfield Festival closed in grand style on Saturday 12 July. The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Alexander Shelley and with soloist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker played works by Smetana, Dvorak and Rimsky-Korsakov in Lichfield Cathedral.

Earlier in the week an orchestra of a very different kind, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, had brought equal delight to its Lichfield Cathedral  audience.

Education once again played a vital Festival role, with projects involving poetry, film music and dance. Here members of the Rosie Kay Dance Company lead a workshop for local dancers. 

 

 

 

Vikram Seth and Alec Roth's The Traveller provided the Lichfield Festival Chorus with its debut performance, alongside Mark Padmore and the Britten Sinfonia. Read the Guardian review here.
