2008 Festival

Welcome

Ten summer days when the world comes to Lichfield. We dance our way through poetry, sing the ages of man, listen to where music meets architecture, and bask in the power of the ukulele. Join us for Arabian nights, winter journeys, Indian princesses and Baltic crossings.

Don’t miss this year’s exceptional opportunity to see Marin Alsop with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

This year we welcome over 400 artists from Denmark, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, France, Germany, America, and from all across the UK. In particular we celebrate the diversity of the West Midlands with performances by the Rosie Kay Dance Company, Bryan Corbett Quartet, Sabri Ensemble, Polarbear, and our very own Festival Chorus.

This year, following feedback from our audience, we have raised the cathedral stage so that even more people can enjoy events under the glowing west window.Image

Keep an eye out for FEAST (Festival Events Around Staffordshire).

Almost all of our major events are accessible to young people for half price, and students can still get best available tickets on the door for £5.

On behalf of the Lichfield Festival team, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2008 Lichfield Festival. Whether you live locally or have travelled a distance, whether you come to many events or just the one, I look forward to seeing you here in July.
