David Curtis conductor

Thomas Nickell piano

Young Steinway Artist Thomas Nickell joins the Orchestra of the Swan to perform Gershwin in a fantastic evening of American classics. Alongside this jazz-classical masterpiece, the concert features a celebration of the American Wild West with a symphonic arrangement from the ballet Rodeo and Dvorak’s New World Symphony completed while living in New York and influenced by the ‘spirit’ of Negro and Indian melodies.
Dubbed ‘the American Mozart’ 18 year old Thomas Nickell is one of the biggest names emerging from the American classical music scene at the moment, and definitely ‘the one to watch’. The Lichfield Festival is excited to welcome him to Lichfield Cathedral as part of this year’s Young Artist Series.
