The Lichfield Festival brings the best national and international artists and performers to the West Midlands each year for a summer celebration of classical music, dance, drama, film, jazz, literature, poetry, visual arts and world music.
Our aim is to present high quality events from across the world in historic and unusual settings, providing the largest number of people with access to vibrant new experiences.
Performers as diverse as Oscar Peterson, Mstislav Rostropovich, Stephen Fry, Maxim Vengerov, Philip Glass, Anoushka Shankar, Linda Smith, Evgeny Kissin, Timothy West, Djivan Gasparyan, Marin Alsop, Soweto Gospel Choir and Sir Simon Rattle, amongst others have appeared since 1982.
Our education and community programme lies at the heart of the Festival’s activities.  Through workshops, free community events, master classes and schools projects we provide people of all ages with an opportunity to explore their creativity.
The Lichfield Festival was shortlisted for the Concert Series category of the 2008 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, Britain’s leading awards for live classical performance.
The Lichfield Festival has recently expanded to include an annual autumn Literature Weekend, occasional December events, and year round education and outreach work.
