 8.00pm Lichfield Garrick 120mins
Ray Gelato & The Giants

ImageRay Gelato is a man on a mission to entertain. The singer/saxophonist and his foot-stomping six-piece band keep alive the jump ‘n’ jive traditions of Cab Calloway, Louis Prima, Fats Waller, Louis Jordan.

His latest recording celebrates the great entertainers with his own versions of songs like On The Sunny Side Of The Street, Your Feet’s Too Big and I’m In The Mood For Love.

Ray and his spectacular band have twice entertained the Queen, played private parties for Richard Branson, Elle McPherson and Paul McCartney, and opened at the Royal Albert Hall for Robbie Williams. They have also performed at the Proms in the Park, the BBC's VE Day Concert in Trafalgar Square, and on Strictly Come Dancing.

Now they’re playing just for you at this glittering Lichfield Festival Grand Opening concert. The joint will definitely be jumpin’.

SharpWire presents
Johnny's Midnight Goggles
A one-man operatic thriller

Performed by Matthew Sharp
Words and music by Pete M. Wyer

ImageJohnny's been kidnapped, the Black Camel of Takrilakastan has shown up and a mysterious pair of goggles has opened a portal to another world. Midnight is fast approaching and the chase is on to rescue Johnny. Johnny's Midnight Goggles is a mind- and genre-bending explosion of storytelling, singing, music and sonic wizardry - think Tim Burton meets John Adams; Philip Pullman meets Paganini!

SharpWire are cellist/singer/theatre performer, Matthew Sharp and writer/composer, Pete M Wyer. Their spellbinding excursions into uncharted performance territory have engaged and entranced audiences around the world.

Witty, nail-biting and strikingly original music theatre with goggles on!
