Angie Lewin

Image

Angie’s linocuts, wood engravings and lithographs focus on the intricate structures of British native plants. Through the stems and seedheads of skeletal plantforms she depicts the
landscape beyond: the clifftops and sea of the North Norfolk coast or the lochs, mountains and islands of the Scottish Highlands. She has also translated her work into fabric designs and book jackets. Angie is a member of The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and of The Society of Wood Engravers.

Alistair Tucker

Image

Alistair’s work is based upon the British landscape, its shape and form and the effects of the weather and light upon it. He says: “If my work aims at anything it is to try and capture the glossolalia, the unspoken, silent chorus of praise to almighty God which goes on day and night and constantly fills me with awe. I think this is probably what the architects of our great cathedrals wanted to do so the chance to exhibit in Lichfield Cathedral seems rather fitting.” He studied in Bristol and at Middlesex University. He is Head of Art at The Queen’s School in Chester, exhibits around the UK and also runs etching workshops.

Andy Lovell

Image

An illustrator and, increasingly, a printmaker, Andy’s work reflects his graphic background and an appreciation of the rich seam of British graphic artists from the mid 20th century onwards. He says: “Drawing and painting are the foundation of my work, imprinting a memory of place and shape that inevitably informs the final image. Printmaking is a physical
process that is exacting and exhilarating in equal measure. The thrill of lifting paper from an inked up plate or laying down a large area of colour on a pristine piece of paper never fades.” He lives in Gloucester.

Exhibitions are open to the public from Friday 10 to Saturday 18 July, 10-11.30am and 13.30-17.00, as well as during the evening concert intervals and afterwards until the cathedral closes, except for private receptions. On Sunday 19 July viewing is possible 12.00 to 15.00.
