Settling into Lichfield Festival
After a fun, exciting and very busy day volunteering at Lichfield Festival this past summer I am now settling into my new role as intern (on placement from Birmingham University).
Whilst volunteering at the festival this July I spent the morning organising the smooth running of the land train. The train was a huge success and brought a wide range of people aboard! My afternoon was filled with the Puppet Parade. It was amazing to see the creativity and effort that had gone into the puppets and it was lovely to see the young children who had been involved with making the puppets carry them. There was a community spirit that followed us on our parade through town and up to the Cathedral.
It is now October and I have returned to Lichfield to complete my placement. I am working in the office alongside Dawn and Fran. My days so far have been varied, a meeting with our web developers today, survey analysis and creating spreadsheets for
grant applications. Overall, I am assisting in working towards another successful festival this upcoming Summer in 2019!
When I am not working at Lichfield Festival I am currently studying History and Political Science at Birmingham University. Coming to Lichfield is a nice time out from lectures and endless days at the library! The placement also gives me an opportunity to gain experience working in a professional environment. I am thoroughly enjoying working in a small team and in such a friendly environment. In a small team I have the opportunity to do a variety of tasks and this can help me to see what aspects of professional life I am better at, which will really help me in the future.
